The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Patriots spent their marquee pick on Drake Maye, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
Reaching for Gore Jr. left real value on the table behind him. Gray at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 4 they get their guy under center for the next decade at fair value. A real need, handled.
In slot 27 they get a go-to option on the outside. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Jordan Morgan at Round 2, Pick 2 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A slide stopped in No. 69, with T.J. Tampa worth more than the price. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Brenden Rice well ahead of where he belonged. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Steal is underselling it; Cedric Gray at the Round 5 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A big swing on Dallin Holker at the 140th pick, well ahead of any board in the building. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They liked Curtis Jacobs enough to skip the value, taking him in the 180th overall pick. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Grayson Murphy. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Frank Gore Jr. at slot 231 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
