Start where it matters. The Patriots took Drake Maye to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one.
Getting Reiman where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Reaching for Flournoy left real value on the table behind him.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 3rd overall pick they get a long-term answer under center. A clean fit for the roster.
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Ladd McConkey. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A straight-up fair deal on Patrick Paul at the 68th pick, value and slot in agreement. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They read the board right and Trey Benson was the payoff at slot 103. The roster fit checks out.
Dallin Holker in No. 147 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A need, and now a little less of one.
No drama and no debate, Jordan Jefferson went about where he belonged in pick 180. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They paid up for Ryan Flournoy at the Round 6 slot when waiting would have done the job. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Trente Jones slid further than he should have, and pick No. 203 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Somehow Tip Reiman was still sitting there in the 207th overall pick, and they pounced on premier tight end value. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
JD Bertrand at slot 231 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
