The search is over. The Patriots handed the keys to Jayden Daniels, and the whole operation now runs on his development. Little to argue with here, and the A says so.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. However the rest shakes out, McGlothern at that price is a win they earned.
Few war rooms will sleep better than this one tonight.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 11 they get the face of the franchise. A clean fit for the roster.
They read the board right and Brian Thomas Jr. was the payoff at the 34th pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Ja'Tavion Sanders at No. 42 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Nice patience on Kingsley Suamataia, who had no business lasting to the Round 3 slot. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
By-the-book stuff, Braelon Allen at Round 4, Pick 3 squarely in line with his ranking. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Christian Jones at the 129th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A need, and now a little less of one.
A straight-up fair deal on Jaylin Simpson at pick 137, value and slot in agreement. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They barely believed it either: Dwight McGlothern still on the board at pick No. 180. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jordan Jefferson in pick No. 193. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Nothing to complain about; Frank Gore Jr. went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
