B-
New England Patriots
Quarterback settled, Maye in the fold, and a B- for the Patriots.

2024 NFL Draft
· 8 picks
· 2 steals
· 1 reaches
The Patriots spent the pick that matters most on Drake Maye, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
The cost of the Vidal reach is exactly the players who went right after him. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Liufau.
For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
A straight-up fair deal on Drake Maye at pick 3, value and slot in agreement. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A tidy little value on Adonai Mitchell in No. 34, a step better than break-even. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Kiran Amegadjie at slot 68 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A clean, defensible pick in the 103rd pick with a little surplus value in Cam Hart. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Jaylin Simpson at the 137th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Marist Liufau is a better player than the Round 6 slot suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Tip Reiman in pick No. 193 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The roster fit checks out.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Kimani Vidal in Round 7, Pick 11, miles early. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
