The search is over. The Patriots handed the keys to Drake Maye, and the whole operation now runs on his development.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Wilson. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 3 they get a passer to set the clock by. A real need, handled.
Troy Fautanu slid further than he should have, and the Round 2 slot is lovely value for the offensive lineman. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Roman Wilson in the 68th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Isaac Guerendo at the 104th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
They read the board right and Cedric Gray was the payoff at No. 136. A minor itch, scratched.
Dwight McGlothern at Round 6, Pick 7 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Frank Gore Jr. in pick 229. The roster fit checks out.
