After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Patriots committed. Jayden Daniels is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
Guyton at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 6th overall pick they get a long-term answer under center. A clean fit for the roster.
Brian Thomas Jr. in pick 34 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
The board fumbled Tyler Guyton all the way to No. 47, and they scooped it up. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
T.J. Tampa at pick No. 68 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
By-the-book stuff, Braelon Allen at Round 4, Pick 3 squarely in line with his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
Javon Foster at the Round 5 slot is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Steal is underselling it; Dwight McGlothern at the 180th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Tip Reiman slid further than he should have, and slot 193 is lovely value for the tight end. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They took Trevin Wallace at par in pick 231, which is nothing to complain about. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
