The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Patriots spent their marquee pick on Drake Maye, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.
Getting Pritchett where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it. Every board in the league had Harrell lower, and that gap is the story.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 3 they get a passer to set the clock by at fair value.
Good price on Adonai Mitchell in pick No. 34, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Kingsley Suamataia at pick 68 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. The roster fit checks out.
Nice patience on Trey Benson, who had no business lasting to the 103rd pick. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
The board had Ben Sinnott higher than the Round 5 slot, and the tight end fell to them anyway. A need, and now a little less of one.
Circle this one: Nehemiah Pritchett at No. 180 is a fall that decides a draft. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
A reach on Jaylen Harrell in Round 6, Pick 18; the board had better options right there. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Trevin Wallace at the 231st overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
