The search is over. The Patriots handed the keys to Drake Maye, and the whole operation now runs on his development. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
The Ford pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. They are betting Laube proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 3 they get their guy under center for the next decade. A clean fit for the roster.
No drama and no debate, Jordan Morgan went about where he belonged in slot 34. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Blake Fisher in the 68th pick is fair value, right on his grade. The roster fit checks out.
Good price on Javon Baker in pick No. 102, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Dylan Laube at the Round 4 slot jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A clean, defensible pick in No. 179 with a little surplus value in Dwight McGlothern. A minor itch, scratched.
Jaylan Ford at pick 231 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
