Start where it matters. The Patriots took Drake Maye to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one.
Getting Braswell where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want.
Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 3 they get their guy under center for the next decade. A real need, handled.
They paid sticker price for Jordan Morgan in Round 2, Pick 2, and that is fine. The roster fit checks out.
Chris Braswell at the 68th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They did well to land Jalen McMillan in No. 104, just ahead of his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Ben Sinnott at the 136th pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Dwight McGlothern at pick 182 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Frank Gore Jr. at the Round 7 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
