They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Drake Maye is the Patriots' quarterback, full stop.
Vidal has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 3rd overall pick they get the face of the franchise at fair value. A real need, handled.
Troy Fautanu at slot 34 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
By-the-book stuff, Devontez Walker at Round 3, Pick 4 squarely in line with his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Brenden Rice at pick 103 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Jaylin Simpson in the 137th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Nice patience on AJ Barner, who had no business lasting to the Round 6 slot. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They took Steele Chambers at par in pick No. 193, which is nothing to complain about. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
A real head-scratcher, Kimani Vidal in No. 231 is miles ahead of his ranking. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
