The Patriots' one glaring miss is edge rusher, a need they left exactly as they found it.
However the rest shakes out, Irving at that price is a win they earned. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes. They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 3 they get a go-to option on the outside at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
A straight-up fair deal on Jordan Morgan at the 34th pick, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Blake Fisher. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Nice patience on Bucky Irving, who had no business lasting to No. 104. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A tidy little value on Ben Sinnott in pick No. 136, a step better than break-even. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Dwight McGlothern in the 182nd overall pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Nothing to complain about; Frank Gore Jr. went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It fills a real need, too.
