· 8 picks
· 2 steals
· 1 reaches
They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Drake Maye is the Patriots' quarterback, full stop.
They are betting Gore Jr. proves the room right and everyone else wrong. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Jacobs.
A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 6 they get their quarterback of the future. A clean fit for the roster.
They will replay Dallas Turner at pick 34 for years; that is how good the value is. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
T.J. Tampa at Round 2, Pick 15 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
No edge and no loss on Patrick Paul in the 68th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Javon Baker in No. 102 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A tidy little value on Ben Sinnott in slot 136, a step better than break-even. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Value said wait; Frank Gore Jr. in the 179th pick says they were not listening. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Steal is underselling it; Curtis Jacobs at the Round 7 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A minor itch, scratched.
