The search is over. The Vikings handed the keys to Jayden Daniels, and the whole operation now runs on his development. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
Jones falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Proctor pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
The bill for those future picks comes due whether the class hits or not.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 3rd pick they get the arm they will build around. The biggest hole, addressed.
Nice patience on Tyler Davis, who had no business lasting to the Round 4 slot. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
The board had Tommy Eichenberg higher than slot 157, and the linebacker fell to them anyway. A minor need, but a need all the same.
The board fumbled Jarrian Jones all the way to pick No. 167, and they scooped it up. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Jordan Travis in pick 177 lands just on the right side of the ledger. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A reach for Josh Proctor in No. 230; a little patience would have been rewarded. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They paid sticker price for Donovan Jennings in Round 7, Pick 12, and that is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
