The rest of the league will want that one back. Tommy Eichenberg tumbling to the Patriots in No. 180 is a gift they did not have to think twice about.
A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. Every board in the league had Johnson lower, and that gap is the story. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 8 they get a weapon on the perimeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A tidy little value on Brian Thomas Jr. in pick 34, a step better than break-even. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Adonai Mitchell slid further than he should have, and No. 46 is lovely value for the wide receiver. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
You do not let an offensive lineman like Jordan Morgan reach pick No. 68 and blink. They did not. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They paid sticker price for Trey Benson in the 82nd pick, and that is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Dadrion Taylor-Demerson in the Round 4 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Theo Johnson at the 105th overall pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Spencer Rattler at Round 4, Pick 10 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
The board fumbled Elijah Jones all the way to Round 5, Pick 1, and they scooped it up. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They will replay Tommy Eichenberg at the Round 6 slot for years; that is how good the value is. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A slide stopped in No. 193, with Tip Reiman worth more than the price. It fills a real need, too.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and JD Bertrand at the 231st overall pick is the proof. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
