You could see the war room lean forward. Jihaad Campbell at slot 145 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. No fireworks, but a solid B.
Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The roster is better shaped than it was, with interior defensive lineman chief among the fixes. The back end got a real overhaul.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 4 they get an island corner. Need was not the driver here.
Ashton Jeanty at No. 38 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
You do not let a tight end like Tyler Warren reach slot 69 and blink. They did not. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
The board fumbled Kenneth Grant all the way to the 77th pick, and they scooped it up. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Somehow Wyatt Milum was still sitting there in Round 4, Pick 4, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They barely believed it either: Jihaad Campbell still on the board at the Round 5 slot. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
