The Patriots looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Joe Milton III at No. 165 regardless, 34 picks early.
Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The Hadden value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.
On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
