Somehow the biggest item on the list survived the weekend. The Patriots never addressed edge rusher, and it is the kind of gap that lingers.
Reaching for Johnson left real value on the table behind him. The Worthy steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most. The skill positions did well by the weekend.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 3 they get a difference-maker at receiver. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Bo Nix in the Round 2 slot. The roster fit checks out.
Value with a capital V on Xavier Worthy in slot 75, a genuine coup. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They talked themselves into Theo Johnson at the 103rd overall pick, and the board did not agree. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They took Javon Foster at par in No. 122, which is nothing to complain about. A need, and now a little less of one.
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jaylin Simpson. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
