Call it larceny. Quinshon Judkins sat on the board until the 143rd overall pick, and the Patriots did not need to be asked twice. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
The Burch reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 14th pick they get a true top target, and a steal at that. The biggest hole, addressed.
A quiet steal in the 38th overall pick: Emeka Egbuka for less than the market said. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Tate Ratledge slipping to the Round 2 slot is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They barely believed it either: Tyler Warren still on the board at No. 69. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They reached a country mile for Jordan Burch at slot 77, and the board is aghast. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Andrew Mukuba at pick 104 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
