Call it larceny. Quinshon Judkins sat on the board until the Round 5 slot, and the Patriots did not need to be asked twice. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
The wide receiver hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the wide receiver spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Abdul Carter. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Tate Ratledge in Round 2, Pick 6. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
You do not let a tight end like Tyler Warren reach pick 69 and blink. They did not. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
The board fumbled Jalon Walker all the way to pick No. 77, and they scooped it up. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Somehow Andrew Mukuba was still sitting there in the 104th overall pick, and they pounced on premier safety value. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Quinshon Judkins at slot 143 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The roster fit checks out.
