This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Chase Lundt, the No. 167 name on the board, stolen at pick 238. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
They are betting Kendall proves the room right and everyone else wrong. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.
Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 17 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare. The biggest hole, addressed.
Tyler Warren in the 38th overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Jalon Walker at the 45th pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They read the board right and TreVeyon Henderson was the payoff at the Round 3 slot. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Ozzy Trapilo in Round 3, Pick 13 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Steal is underselling it; Elic Ayomanor at pick 106 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They barely believed it either: Andrew Mukuba still on the board at pick No. 144. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Circle this one: Anthony Belton at No. 151 is a fall that decides a draft. The roster fit checks out.
They reached a country mile for Dont'e Thornton Jr. at Round 5, Pick 19, and the board is aghast. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A reach for Jack Kiser in the 171st overall pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Jaydon Blue at pick 217 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
The board fumbled Jack Nelson all the way to the Round 7 slot, and they scooped it up. A need, and now a little less of one.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Drew Kendall this early at No. 235. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Chase Lundt in pick No. 238, plain and simple. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
