The Patriots cashed the board's mistake on Gordon II: B.

The rest of the league will want that one back. Ollie Gordon II tumbling to the Patriots in slot 108 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.

For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. If Truss pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.

The skill positions did well by the weekend.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.3 · Pick 3 · Emeka Egbuka · WR · rank 7
By-the-book stuff, Emeka Egbuka at pick 3 squarely in line with his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Isaiah Bond · WR · rank 30
Value with a capital V on Isaiah Bond in No. 41, a genuine coup. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R3.8 · Pick 72 · Earnest Greene III · OT · rank 72
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Earnest Greene III. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R3.22 · Pick 86 · Bradyn Swinson · DE-EDGE · rank 81
A reasonable price with a little left over, Bradyn Swinson in the 86th pick. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R4.7 · Pick 108 · Ollie Gordon II · RB · rank 86
Ollie Gordon II at the 108th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R5.6 · Pick 144 · Jaeden Roberts · OG · rank 142
A straight-up fair deal on Jaeden Roberts at Round 5, Pick 6, value and slot in agreement. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R7.4 · Pick 218 · Azareye'h Thomas · CB · rank 207
Azareye'h Thomas is a better player than pick No. 218 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A minor need, but a need all the same.
R7.6 · Pick 220 · Kamren Fabiculanan · S · rank 213
Fair-plus on Kamren Fabiculanan, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R7.22 · Pick 236 · Xavier Truss · OT · rank 244
They went early on Xavier Truss in slot 236, and the value did not follow. A need, and now a little less of one.
R7.42 · Pick 256 · Germie Bernard · WR · rank 256
Germie Bernard at pick No. 256 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
