There is conviction, and then there is this. The Patriots took Erick All a full 66 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend.
Jayden Daniels is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Bullock.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 3rd pick they get a franchise quarterback at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
A big swing on Xavier Worthy at Round 2, Pick 2, well ahead of any board in the building. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Matt Goncalves in No. 68 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. The roster fit checks out.
A safety of that caliber at slot 103 is the definition of value, full stop. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Erick All in the 137th overall pick, miles early. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Rasheen Ali. It fills a real need, too.
Isaiah Williams slipping to the 193rd pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They robbed the room for Caedan Wallace here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
