Somebody in pick 105 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Patriots sat still while Malachi Moore, the No. 73 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Tetairoa McMillan and all.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 8 they get a home-run threat at receiver. The biggest hole, addressed.
Emeka Egbuka at the 34th overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Tate Ratledge in Round 2, Pick 4 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Value with a capital V on Kenneth Grant in No. 39, a genuine coup. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Xavier Watts at the 67th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A conviction pick on Charles Grant at pick No. 79 that the board grades a round light. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Azareye'h Thomas at pick 103 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
A safety of that caliber at the Round 4 slot is the definition of value, full stop. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
