Somebody in the 147th overall pick was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Patriots sat still while TreVeyon Henderson, the No. 60 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.
They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 4th pick they get a problem off the edge. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Value with a capital V on Emeka Egbuka in Round 2, Pick 6, a genuine coup. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Tyler Warren at the Round 3 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Nice patience on Alfred Collins, who had no business lasting to pick 77. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Andrew Mukuba in slot 104 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They robbed the room for TreVeyon Henderson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
