Call it larceny. Jaylen Reed sat on the board until pick 238, and the Patriots did not need to be asked twice. The bottom line is a respectable B+.
If Williams pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own.
Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The Tyler Guyton pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 12 they get a No. 1 receiver. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Circle this one: Nick Emmanwori at the Round 2 slot is a fall that decides a draft. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Aireontae Ersery. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Deone Walker in pick 69 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A quiet steal in the 76th overall pick: Jayden Higgins for less than the market said. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A tidy little value on Elijah Arroyo in pick No. 77, a step better than break-even. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
The board fumbled Devin Neal all the way to the 106th pick, and they scooped it up. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Ozzy Trapilo at Round 4, Pick 7 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
