It is the swing that defines the weekend: Sai'vion Jones in No. 69, a good 72 spots before the room expected him. One of the weekend's best, top to bottom, and a A- to show for it.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. The Moore pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.
Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Jalon Walker and all.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th pick they get a sideline-to-sideline linebacker. Need was not the driver here.
Nice patience on Emeka Egbuka, who had no business lasting to the Round 2 slot. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Aireontae Ersery at slot 58. A need, and now a little less of one.
A big swing on Sai'vion Jones at pick 69, well ahead of any board in the building. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Jared Ivey in No. 81 is fair value, right on his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They liked Terrance Ferguson enough to skip the value, taking him in the 105th overall pick. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A safety of that caliber at No. 118 is the definition of value, full stop. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Earnest Greene III at the Round 5 slot is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
