After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Patriots committed. Caleb Williams is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline.
With edge rusher, interior defensive lineman and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on cornerback is the choice that costs them. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Getting Mims where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.

In pick No. 3 they get a long-term answer under center. A clean fit for the roster.
The board had Amarius Mims higher than the 34th overall pick, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
