When the story of this class is written, it opens with Spencer Rattler at slot 75, a reach of 42 spots that the board flatly disagrees with. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. That Tracy Jr. pick is the receipt they will wave around later.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 10 they get a home-run threat at receiver at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Troy Fautanu at pick No. 34 is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Patrick Paul in the Round 3 slot is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Spencer Rattler at slot 75 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A need, and now a little less of one.
A tidy bit of business in pick 104, where Brenden Rice graded well above the range. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
The board had cheaper options than Ben Sinnott at the 114th pick, and it noticed. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Nice patience on Tyrone Tracy Jr., who had no business lasting to slot 136. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Kamal Hadden in pick No. 182. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Rasheen Ali at No. 229 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The roster fit checks out.
