After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Patriots committed. Drake Maye is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline.
Oladapo falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 3 they get their quarterback of the future. A real need, handled.
Ladd McConkey at the 34th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Kingsley Suamataia in slot 68 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A slide stopped in the 104th overall pick, with Dominick Puni worth more than the price. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They let Tyrone Tracy Jr. come to them and pounced at Round 4, Pick 36. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Kitan Oladapo in No. 182, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
The board had Josh Proctor higher than pick No. 229, and the safety fell to them anyway. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
