The Patriots put a flag in the ground for Trey Moore, 111 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit.

Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Hancock. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

Bottom line, with Ashton Jeanty leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.6 · Pick 6 · Ashton Jeanty · RB · rank 2
Good price on Ashton Jeanty in the 6th overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R2.5 · Pick 37 · Marcus Mbow · OT · rank 59
Marcus Mbow at Round 2, Pick 5 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R2.6 · Pick 38 · Tyler Booker · OG · rank 37
No edge and no loss on Tyler Booker in the Round 2 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R3.5 · Pick 69 · Jermari Harris · CB · rank 90
A wild overpay on Jermari Harris in slot 69, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
R3.9 · Pick 73 · Xavier Restrepo · WR · rank 49
Somehow Xavier Restrepo was still sitting there in pick 73, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R3.19 · Pick 83 · Jordan Burch · DE-EDGE · rank 112
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jordan Burch. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R4.4 · Pick 105 · Jake Majors · C · rank 93
Value with a capital V on Jake Majors in slot 105, a genuine coup. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R5.2 · Pick 140 · Trey Moore · LB-EDGE · rank 251
Value said wait; Trey Moore in pick No. 140 says they were not listening. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R7.5 · Pick 219 · Jared Wilson · C · rank 204
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jared Wilson in the 219th overall pick. The roster fit checks out.
R7.8 · Pick 222 · Jordan Hancock · S · rank 189
Steal is underselling it; Jordan Hancock at No. 222 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R7.23 · Pick 237 · Elijhah Badger · WR · rank 260
They reached into another round for Elijhah Badger, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
