Start where it matters. The Patriots took Drake Maye to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
The Pearsall steal is the beam this whole class leans on. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 6 they get the arm they will build around at fair value.
In the Round 1 slot they get an anchor for the offensive line. A real need, handled.
In Round 1, Pick 27 they get a wrecking ball inside. The biggest hole, addressed.
In slot 31 they get a security blanket over the middle. A clean fit for the roster.
They took Ladd McConkey at par in pick 34, which is nothing to complain about. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Good price on Jordan Morgan in the 38th pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It fills a real need, too.
They robbed the room for Ricky Pearsall here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A cornerback of that caliber at the 215th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Frank Gore Jr.. A need, and now a little less of one.
They will replay Curtis Jacobs at the Round 7 slot for years; that is how good the value is. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
The board had Sheridan Jones higher than Round 7, Pick 29, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
