The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Jaydon Blue, the 238th overall pick, roughly 65 picks past where he belonged.
They are betting Oladejo proves the room right and everyone else wrong. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want.
Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a double-digit-sack hope. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They read the board right and Emeka Egbuka was the payoff at the 38th overall pick. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Omarion Hampton at No. 69 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It fills a real need, too.
Ozzy Trapilo in the 77th pick is fair value, right on his grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Oluwafemi Oladejo in pick 106, miles early. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Value with a capital V on Malachi Moore in pick No. 144, a genuine coup. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Dont'e Thornton Jr. in Round 7, Pick 1 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A interior defensive lineman of that caliber at slot 220 is the definition of value, full stop. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Steal is underselling it; Jaydon Blue at the Round 7 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
