This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Johnny Wilson, the No. 73 name on the board, stolen at pick No. 104.
For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss. It is a win-now wager, and the future is the stake.
Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Call it incomplete, and check back in a couple of seasons.
Pick-by-Pick
No drama and no debate, Brock Bowers went about where he belonged in pick 6. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Ladd McConkey. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
No edge and no loss on J.J. McCarthy in Round 2, Pick 7; it is a wash and a sensible one. A need, and now a little less of one.
Tyler Guyton in No. 47 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They barely believed it either: Calen Bullock still on the board at the 68th pick. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Johnny Wilson in slot 104 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Sataoa Laumea at the Round 4 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Andru Phillips at the 182nd overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. It adds depth where they could use a little.
