The Patriots lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
White has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The safety spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
The Clark steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but safety.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 5 they get protection for the quarterback at fair value.
A clean, defensible pick in No. 41 with a little surplus value in James Pearce Jr.. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Good price on Colston Loveland in the Round 3 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A reach for Evan Stewart in pick No. 85; a little patience would have been rewarded. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Shavon Revel Jr. in pick 108 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A minor itch, scratched.
Jordan White at Round 5, Pick 6 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
The board had Henry Parrish Jr. higher than the 186th overall pick, and the running back fell to them anyway. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and De'Corian Clark at the 216th pick is the proof. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They reached into another round for Tim Smith, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They paid sticker price for Mason Taylor in the 228th pick, and that is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
