The Patriots spent real capital to be 185 picks early on Jack Westover, and the board is going to hold them to it. It lands right in the middle: a C, no more, no less.
Everything downstream of Bo Nix depends on Bo Nix, and the building knows it. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
A perfectly average weekend, for better and for worse.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 3rd overall pick they get the arm they will build around, a steep price for the projection. A clean fit for the roster.
Brenden Rice in the 34th pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They jumped the gun on Cooper Beebe, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It fills a real need, too.
Value said wait; Dylan Laube in pick No. 104 says they were not listening. The roster fit checks out.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Jack Westover in pick 136, miles early. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
