New England Patriots

The Patriots cashed the board's mistake on Phillips: B+.

The trade table was a mismatch, and the Patriots were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value.

That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. However the rest shakes out, Phillips at that price is a win they earned.

Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.13 · Pick 13 · JC Latham · OT · rank 16
In slot 13 they get an anchor for the offensive line. A clean fit for the roster.
R2.2 · Pick 34 · Jordan Morgan · OT · rank 35
They took Jordan Morgan at par in the Round 2 slot, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R2.12 · Pick 44 · Xavier Worthy · WR · rank 56
A reach on Xavier Worthy in No. 44; the board had better options right there. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R4.4 · Pick 104 · Zak Zinter · OG · rank 104
Zak Zinter in the 104th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R4.36 · Pick 136 · Andru Phillips · CB · rank 118
Circle this one: Andru Phillips at pick No. 136 is a fall that decides a draft. A minor need, but a need all the same.
R6.7 · Pick 182 · Luke McCaffrey · WR · rank 165
They read the board right and Luke McCaffrey was the payoff at Round 6, Pick 7. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R7.9 · Pick 229 · Frank Gore Jr. · RB · rank 224
Nothing to complain about; Frank Gore Jr. went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
