The Patriots spent the pick that matters most on Caleb Williams, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
Still falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
Caleb Williams at Round 1, Pick 3 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Nothing to complain about; Adonai Mitchell went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Ja'Lynn Polk slipping to the 68th pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Mason McCormick in pick 104 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A need, and now a little less of one.
Justin Eboigbe at No. 136 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A straight-up fair deal on Nathan Thomas at the Round 6 slot, value and slot in agreement. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Tarheeb Still in pick No. 229 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
