The Patriots did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Mason McCormick fell into No. 193. The board rewarded a patient, disciplined weekend with a A.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Patriots clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.
Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
In the end it comes back to Rome Odunze, and a haul good enough to build on right away.
Pick-by-Pick
Good price on Marvin Harrison Jr. in the 5th pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A slide stopped in the Round 1 slot, with Rome Odunze worth more than the price. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
You do not let an offensive lineman like Troy Fautanu reach Round 3, Pick 5 and blink. They did not. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.

Mason McCormick at pick 193 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It fills a real need, too.
