The Patriots went off the board in a big way for Fred Davis, 144 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another.

Simon falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
