The search is over. The Patriots handed the keys to Drake Maye, and the whole operation now runs on his development. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
That Worthy pick is the receipt they will wave around later. They are betting Cole proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 3 they get a passer to set the clock by at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
A straight-up fair deal on Adonai Mitchell at the Round 2 slot, value and slot in agreement. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
No drama and no debate, Devontez Walker went about where he belonged in the 68th pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Taking Xavier Worthy in No. 103 is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Nothing to complain about; Christian Jones went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Myles Cole in Round 6, Pick 5 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Erick All at slot 193 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
By-the-book stuff, Frank Gore Jr. at the 231st overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
