They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Bo Nix is the Patriots' quarterback, full stop. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
Every board in the league had Gore Jr. lower, and that gap is the story. The dealing alone would carry a lesser class.
For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 4 they get a security blanket over the middle. A real need, handled.
In the 27th overall pick they get a long-term answer under center at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Ladd McConkey at the Round 2 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Xavier Worthy in Round 2, Pick 21 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Patrick Paul in No. 68 is fair value, right on his grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Khyree Jackson in the 103rd pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
They paid up for Justin Eboigbe at pick 137 when waiting would have done the job. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Khristian Boyd at slot 180 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They talked themselves into Julian Pearl at Round 6, Pick 11, and the board did not agree. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Frank Gore Jr. at the Round 6 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
No edge and no loss on Nathan Thomas in slot 231; it is a wash and a sensible one. The roster fit checks out.
