The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Patriots watched Johnny Wilson slide 30 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. Little to argue with here, and the A- says so.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Amarius Mims and all.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 19 they get a long-term starter on the line at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Chop Robinson in No. 34 is fair value, right on his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They took Jackson Powers-Johnson at par in the Round 2 slot, which is nothing to complain about. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They let Blake Corum come to them and pounced at slot 83. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Steal is underselling it; Johnny Wilson at pick No. 104 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Jarrian Jones slipping to the 136th pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A minor itch, scratched.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Cedric Gray at pick 149 is the proof. It adds depth where they could use a little.
They paid sticker price for Joe Milton III in the 167th overall pick, and that is fine. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A tidy bit of business in slot 182, where LaDarius Henderson graded well above the range. The roster fit checks out.
Myles Jones is a better player than the Round 7 slot suggests; smart patience, rewarded. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
