The Patriots went off the board in a big way for Ben Sinnott, 40 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. The board rewarded a patient, disciplined weekend with a A-.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. The Green value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.
They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.
Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Jordan Morgan and all.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 21 they get a building block for the line. A clean fit for the roster.
J.J. McCarthy at slot 34 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A need, and now a little less of one.
They paid sticker price for Xavier Legette in No. 37, and that is fine. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They reached a country mile for Bucky Irving at the 68th overall pick, and the board is aghast. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Cooper Beebe in pick 69 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A real head-scratcher, Ben Sinnott in the 103rd pick is miles ahead of his ranking. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
James Williams in No. 139 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Jaylen Wright at pick 142 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It fills a real need, too.
They did well to land Roger Rosengarten in slot 182, just ahead of his grade. The roster fit checks out.
Jawhar Jordan at the 224th pick is money in the bank, a running back taken below his worth. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They barely believed it either: Jalen Green still on the board at Round 7, Pick 12. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
