Start where it matters. The Patriots took Jayden Daniels to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B+.
Getting McGlothern where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. The phones were where this weekend was really won. They will need Sinnott to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
Jayden Daniels in pick 7 is fair value, right on his grade. It fills a real need, too.
Terrion Arnold at Round 2, Pick 2 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They paid sticker price for Keon Coleman in pick No. 38, and that is fine. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They did well to land Kingsley Suamataia in slot 68, just ahead of his grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They reached into another round for Ben Sinnott, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Spencer Rattler at the 137th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Tip Reiman at the Round 6 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Somehow Dwight McGlothern was still sitting there in the 193rd pick, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Frank Gore Jr. in No. 231 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. The roster fit checks out.
