Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Brashard Smith got past him. The Patriots do not have to explain a thing at the Round 7 slot. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
Reaching for Morris left real value on the table behind him. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a building block for the line, even if it was a touch early. A clean fit for the roster.
Tate Ratledge at pick No. 37 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
No drama and no debate, Jihaad Campbell went about where he belonged in No. 38. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Jayden Higgins at the 69th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A top-tier tight end at a bargain, Tyler Warren in Round 3, Pick 13, plain and simple. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A slide stopped in the 105th overall pick, with Jermari Harris worth more than the price. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Nicholas Singleton in slot 143 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A need, and now a little less of one.
