Some picks age like wine; Joe Milton III at slot 103 will need to, sitting 59 spots clear of his grade. The bottom line is a respectable B.
The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a No. 1 receiver at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Troy Fautanu at Round 2, Pick 2 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A need, and now a little less of one.
Xavier Worthy in pick No. 42 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
D.J. James at the 68th overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
They reached into another round for Joe Milton III, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It fills a real need, too.
No edge and no loss on AJ Barner in No. 182; it is a wash and a sensible one. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Nathaniel Watson at No. 224 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
