They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Jayden Daniels is the Patriots' quarterback, full stop. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
However the rest shakes out, Newton at that price is a win they earned. Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 9 they get the face of the franchise. A real need, handled.
Nate Wiggins in the Round 2 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Roman Wilson at Round 3, Pick 4 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They robbed the room for Xavier Legette here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Circle this one: Isaiah Adams at No. 150 is a fall that decides a draft. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Josh Newton in pick 182, plain and simple. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
They barely believed it either: Myles Harden still on the board at the 229th pick. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
