You could see the war room lean forward. Andru Phillips at No. 229 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most. They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Marvin Harrison Jr.. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They will replay Drake Maye at Round 2, Pick 2 for years; that is how good the value is. A need, and now a little less of one.
Somehow Brock Bowers was still sitting there in pick 68, and they pounced on premier tight end value. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Patrick Paul at No. 104 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Tyler Davis at the 136th overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Sataoa Laumea in slot 182, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They barely believed it either: Andru Phillips still on the board at the Round 7 slot. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
