The rest of the league will want that one back. Tahj Brooks tumbling to the Patriots in the 219th overall pick is a gift they did not have to think twice about.
They will need Bailey to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The phones were where this weekend was really won.
They will regret leaving wide receiver for another day if the season turns on it.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 24 they get a security blanket over the middle at a price that makes it sweeter.
Donovan Jackson at pick 38 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Steal is underselling it; Jihaad Campbell at the 69th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It adds depth where they could use a little.
David Bailey at Round 3, Pick 13 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for O'Donnell Fortune. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Jake Majors at the Round 5 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A need, and now a little less of one.
Tahj Brooks in slot 219 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It fills a real need, too.
Hayden Conner slipping to the 222nd pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Maxen Hook in pick 240 is fair value, right on his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
