The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Patriots spent their marquee pick on Jayden Daniels, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. They executed a plan and it shows in the A-.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. The Patriots paired the rookies with proven help, Drew Dalman leading the way.
Bottom line, with Jayden Daniels leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 9 they get their guy under center for the next decade. A clean fit for the roster.
Jordan Morgan in the 42nd pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It fills a real need, too.
Xavier Legette at the Round 2 slot nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A straight-up fair deal on Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at the 68th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Mike Sainristil in Round 3, Pick 11 is fair value, right on his grade. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They paid sticker price for Trey Benson in pick 86, and that is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A clean, defensible pick in No. 103 with a little surplus value in Brenden Rice. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
